So we got our i800 back finally, which I need to be able to go get our kids and instead of an approval, we got a request for more info because our agency did not sent all the appropriate paperwork in the original language, only sent the translated copies. Our ageny's process is we send the completed form to them and they send it with the paperwork to USCIS. I am so not happy with them right now.
Re: I may cry
Oh, K! I know those types of agency frustrations well. Our agency also left out some language on our I-800A, and we were very frustrated that they never told us and we learned about it from CIS after the fact. I'm sure you're even more upset, since this is your 800, and you are just waiting to bring your little ones home!
If you need to vent, I'm here to listen.
Thanks! It actually ended up being okay because I threw a minor fit to them (which they are totally nice and I am too so it wasn't like I was screaming or anything. More like, "This is not okay. It needs to be fixed right now") and they called CIS and are overnighting the missing paperwork so we should get approved tomorrow or Thursday. So it should only delay us about a week, which isn't nothing, but it's better than the three weeks I was envisioning.
It's just hard because Colombia didn't become a Hague country until fairly recently so our agency people, while really great and experienced, are still learning the Hague things and because we are doing siblings, we got a quick referral so we are only the third hague family they have done the travel part for. I am sure a year from now things will be like clockwork, but for now it feels like we will never get to travel. Waiting for a referral was hard. But waiting when I know our kids are there in less than ideal care, is way harder on me.
I understand all of this. Our agency is also struggling to get the process down. Our homestudy was the first one they wrote for a Hague case.
I was so disappointed when I heard that under the Hague process, all the US Immigration paperwork is front-loaded, so you no longer get to travel in a matter of days of receiving your referral. The new estimate is about 6 weeks, and while it will certainly make things less rushed, the thought of staying away from my child(ren) during that time seems impossible.
