Pregnant after a Loss

when/if you go back to work after baby is born...

where will your LO go, and if you don't mind sharing, how much will it cost?

i have been looking into a home daycare, but today talked to a friend who stays home with her baby and she offered to watch our LO part time if i go back to work only part time for awhile.  it would definately be cheaper because the home daycare doesn't offer part time slots.  however, i have no idea how much would be appropriate to pay her for watching him part time at her house.   we do live in a small town and the cost of living is relatively low, especially compared to you ladies who live in large cities.

  • We would like to find a nanny but if we can't the daycare center that Makayla is on the waiting list for is $35 a day.

  • Our best friend's mom runs a daycare. It's small and in her home. She has already told us that if we want a spot she will make sure we have one. I haven't 100% decided what I'm doing yet - but it's SUCH a relief to know that if I do go back to work, LO will be with someone who I 10000% trust.

  • Our LO is going to a daycare center - full time.  It is $1180 per month.  We live outside of Raleigh, NC...prices tend to be kind of pricey down here.
  • My mom Big Smile. for free. She has been patiently waiting for that day to come. I will pay for a cleaning lady to clean her house every other week. But, thats peanuts compared to daycare. Once he gets old enough, (2yo), I will put him in "school" like 2-3 days for the learning/interaction.

  • It will be a nanny or daycare. For twins in daycare it will cost $2000 a month.  A nanny will run about the same.  So we're trying to decide.
  • Check out this website: https://www.childcaremaine.org/

there is a lot of info on there. I used it to find daycares to look at (we haven't picked on yet)

  • I'm not much help...I live in Boston and quit my job because an infant in daycare full time is about $2400/month for centers, slightly cheaper if you can find an inexpensive home daycare or nannyshare.

Try looking into prices for local centers as a reference.  I would say if it's a friend I would ask for a bit less than what the centers are.

  • We have a family friend watch our boys now, and she'll watch the baby too in the fall.  Our friend has 8 kids of her own (three still in school) and only watches our boys and sometimes her grandkids.  She will watch all three (and drive to and from school/pre-school) for $45 a day.  She only charges by the day because DH is home on Mondays and my mom watches the boys one day a week when not traveling.

Home care advice: find a provider who you feel comfortable leaving your child with.  They may not have the nicest house (our's lives in a really old double wide) but she should have the nicest behaved kids!  My sitter has been just as much a part of disciplining and potty training my kids as me.
