I had an extra bone in my foot removed. It is called a navicular accessory bone. I guess 10% of the population has it. It is located below the ankle bone on the inside of my foot and was sticking out and kind of painful. It wasn't awful but it caused my arch to fall and a lot of arch pain...so I had to wear orthodics and the doctor said I would for sure need it out one day it just depended on how long I could put up with it. So I just did it. I alos had to have my tendon anchored down and an implant was inserted under my arch.
What is ankle subluxation? How long was the recovery? IS it all healed now?
for me I had to stay off it completely for 3 days, then I got around on crutches for about 3 weeks with a walking boot. Then just the walking boot for a few weeks. Now about a week ago I had an appt and he said I could resume exercising but to take it easy. The recovery was not painful but I hated the crutches so much. It still hurts sometimes but in different spots and according to the doctor my foot is overcompensating in different spots now..
They cut the tendon in the ankle from top to bottom (well mine was torn so it did not need to be cut) then they shorten the tendon (mine was too lose) and reattach it to the leg bone and ankle bone, drill a hole in both bones to do this. They also removed bone fragments on both sides of my ankle, and reattached all the ligaments. It was a very detailed surgery.
I was on crutches for six weeks, then in a walking boot for six weeks, after which I moved to brace and therapy fir six weeks.
it is much better, still tender at times but nothing like it was and the best part is my chance of spraining it again is slim, when before he said chances are I would have it broken by the end of the year. It was so instable.
OMG, that sounds so complicated! I really feel for you having to endure 6 weeks of crutches and with triplets! I am so glad it is now feeling better for you....
