Jack is 3 months today, YAY!!! He is about 6 weeks adjusted. So when did your 32 weeker start sleeping better? Jack goes down about 7:30pm and gets up about 6-7am. He eats around 3-4 am. What kills me is he wakes up every hour for the paci!!!!! I only get a max of an hour of sleep at a time and it is killing me!!!! I want to get rid of the paci for night time, but I don't know how to do it. He goes to sleep without it, I do his routine and put him in his crib awake and he fusses a min or 2 and then he is out. Any suggestions would be GREAT!!!!!!!!
Re: STTN and a paci question!
My 34 weeker didn't STTN until one week past her one year birthday. I'm convinced what helped was taking away the paci. She hasn't used it since then. She doesn't even suck her thumb. I also didn't pick her up and cuddle her at night anymore. If she cried I would stand next the crib, let her know I was there and rub her back, then gradually backed out of the room. It took 3 days of this and she has sttn ever since (mostly).
my daughter was born at 27 weeks, and slept through the night at about 4 months adjusted. IT CAN BE DONE!!!
wren is the opposite.. we've gotten rid of all sleep props but the binky. (no rocking/nursing to sleep, no going for car rides to put her to sleep etc.) so she goes to sleep with her binky, but doesn't wake up for it when it falls out.
my suggestion is just to let him cio when you feel like you can. he WILL be ok, and he WILL stop crying for it eventually. it does take a few (up to 5 or so) nights of crying and less sleep for mommy and daddy... but SO much more sleep in the end. he's probably a little young (depending on what you think) for a cio bedtime routine.. but i think doing it for the constant binky cries throughout the night is the only way to keep your sanity- i would be crazy! you might try by just going in and patting him, soothing him a little, then walking out. repeating every 10 mins or so until he goes back to sleep. so he knows, when he cries, he doesn't get the binky every time. then, after a few times, wait 20 mins... etc... spreading it out longer in between, and staying in the room for a shorter time.. just talking, not patting... eventually he should be able to self soothe if he wakes himself up in the night.
