High-Risk Pregnancy

New here-PTL

Hi ladies, I've been lurking on this board for a while and thought I'd introduce myself. I have been on limited activity since 14 weeks due to pain from endometriosis/scar tissue. About 2.5 wks ago I was put on modified bedrest because of a lot of pelvic pressure and slightly short cervix (2.7cm and should have been at least 3cm). Well a few hours after that u/s checking my cervix I went to L&D for a dramatic increase in pain. I wasn't sure if I was having contractions because I was already in so much pain. Well turns out I was and a lot of them. Just from Thursday afternoon to Friday am my cervix changed from 2.7cm to less than 1cm. I was then transferred to a hospital 45min away because they have a better NICU. After magnesium sulfate (which is the absolute worse) and procardia the contractions subsided and I was able to go home on br after spending the weekend in the hospital. Well this past Friday it all started again. Another round of the dreaded magnesium sulfate, terrible ride in the ambulance to the other hospital, and another weekend in the hospital I was sent home yesturday afternoon with increased dosage of the procardia. I am now 2cm dilated and 80% effaced.

I'm really really hoping to make it close to 35 weeks because then I could deliver at the birthing center here in town.

Anyone else dealing with this? The procardia is really getting to me. I went from taking 10mg every 6hrs to 20mg every 4 hours. Its giving me terrible headaches and making me extremely nauseous. That is not helping the bedrest situation. I'm just having a hard day. I'm scared and have no clue whats normal and whats not. The doctors said I will have more pain/cramps than a typical pregnancy due to the endometriosis but its still hard for me to determine at what point its something to be worried about.

Sorry this is so long but thanks for reading! I really needed to vent a little.

  • this sounds a lot like me with DS. that was about my dilation/effacement at that time and i was taking 20mg of procardia around the clock as well and on bedrest until 34. at 34 wk they pulled me from meds and bedrest and at that time i was 75%/3cm. a week later i was at 75%/4cm and went into labor a few days after that.
