Same mattress I purchased but I purchased it in a local store for the same price.
My mom bought mine at K-mart in Des Moines actually.....I believe she got it for $50, but it was mismarked and actually more like $80. I don't think it'd be a crappy mattress. Besides, maybe your kid will be like mine and hardly sleep in it! hehe

We went with the Serta Perfect Night mattress for $139 mainly because it was slightly larger than the others and our crib would work best with that size. In reading reviews of the crib I purchased, I found that people had mentioned that the only issue was that it is on the larger side and there seems to be space inbetween the mattress and crib.

I'm interested in that one too. Have you received it yet? Did you look at one before buying online?
Ours is 280, when I was talking with the sales person at the store they said the lower quality mattresses are more for grandparents houses, where the kid won't be sleeping on it daily. about 150 and up where the prices in the better mattresses, we got a simmions with a 10yr warrenty which should last all the kids we have

Not yet. I should get it Thursday. I haven't seen it in person yet but everyone seems to like it as it has great reviews.
I was only planning on spending $50-60, but we received a ton of gift cards at the shower and between those and other returns I had some extra BRU credit, so I splurged and spent $90!

We paid $80 for DD's matteress, it was the mid priced seally from target, I've been very happy with it and she sleeps great on it, $300 for a crib mattress is outrageous.
I think DS's was about 150-180ish. It is 2 sided, infant side and toddler side. They spend a lot of time in that crib....so I think a good mattress is important.
Years ago we tried a cheap one from Walmart for the dog to use....it is bad. Super mushy, noisy, the dog wouldn't even go on it! lol!

We are getting an organic coil mattress (either Naturepedic or Organic Grace). Both are $259. While this is pricey, it is not something we are willing to compromise on because we want a chemical free mattress for LO.
Also, I've never understood why people go cheap on mattresses because of the high percentage of our lives we spend on them. We used that same principle when purchasing our king mattress & have never regretted it.

exactly this.
And especially for a baby, since lo is growing you want the the best support for their little spines, and developing muscles.
Well I'm in the minority pricewise I guess - we got this one: https://www.buybuybaby.com/product.asp?order_num=-1&SKU=15039370&. Mainly because it can be flipped and used for the toddler bed because it has a firm side and a less firm side. I also know that for an adult there is a big difference between a cheap mattress and a good one so I figured it's probably the same for a baby/toddler. We don't plan on having the baby sleep in the pack and play or other things while in the house so they'll be on this mattress A LOT so we wanted to get a good one that would hold up - and one that would possibly hold up for our second child as well once our first grows out of this one.
Re: How much did you spend on your crib mattress?
wow Ive never seen them priced at $300
we have this one by serta

Ours was $110 at BRU. We went with the Simmons Super Maxipedic which was the top rated coil mattress in Baby Bargains.
I'd like to get the same one for this baby but can't find it anywhere:-(
