should i see the dr more?

Ok- I am 31 weeks along with twins that share a placenta. I admit that I have been overly paranoid from the beginning and have read all over the internet that when you are being monitored for ttts, the peri should see you once a week... Mine has seen me every 3 weeks for growth scans. My OB now sees me once a week. I just read that acute ttts can happen anytime afer 30 weeks. So on Friday at my peri appt, she said "see you in 3 weeks"... My question is, at this point, how often do/did you see your drs and how about NSTs? My cousin just had twins and said she had one a week.... UGH

Re: should i see the dr more?

  • If I were you I would want to see the peri more often also. Our twins are mo-di also and we have a fraternal triplet also. We found out at NT scan at nearly 12w then rescanned at nearly 13 but since then I see the peri every 2 weeks (no OB) and they measure them at every appointment. At 28w or sooner they will become more frequent. They barely look at the triplet; the scan is for the twins.

  • At that stage (and I had three sharing a placenta) I was only scheduled for an u/s every 3-4 weeks. Fortunately, nothing went wrong but still, it made me nervous.

  • I'm 31 weeks with mo/di twins and we see my ob once a week and my peri once a week now. But we had TTTS about 10 weeks ago so they are monitoring me closely. I don't know what it would be like if we hadn't had TTTS.
  • Our girls were mono/di and I only had growth scans every 3 weeks.  Around 33 or 34 weeks they started the twice weekly NSTs and once weekly AFIs.

Toward the end of my pregnancy I got really worried because the girls needed biophysical profiles done at a few appts. in a row.  On the last one Baby A took about 15 minutes to practice her breathing, so she barely passed.  I went to L&D twice for protein in my urine, elevated BP and contractions.  My on-call doc never kept me for induction and I got frustrated with worry for the girls.

However, when they were born they were perfectly healthy, the placenta still looked wonderful (doc said "you really fed them well!"), and they came home with me the following day : ) They were born at 37 weeks, 6 days.

  • I am 28 weeks with twins that share a placenta with discoordinate growths and when we saw the Peri last week he said they were going to start monitioring me twice a week. So every monday we are going for Non Stress test and then if something shows up on the test we will have an ultrasound right after, and then every thursday we are going for our ultrasounds. We also see the OB once a week now.
