pack n play/bassinet dilemma

We are having trouble figuring out which structure to purchase for our babies.  In the beginning, I thought they could sleep in our room in the bassinet feature of the pack n play...  do/did you use a single bassinet, 2 singles, or the graco twin bassinet?  I'm concerned that both of those only have a 15lb weight limit.  Then I also saw the co-arms sleeper that has a higher weight limit.

We will obviously then want to use the playard feature when they are older.  Can they both play in the same one or should there be 2?

Im just so confused!!  What did you girls do that have twins?  Thanks for any advice!

Re: pack n play/bassinet dilemma

  • We started out with an Arm's Reach Original Cosleeper. Our boys would have outgrown the weight limit of a PnP bassinet (shared) by the time they were 3-4 weeks old.

  • After doing some of my own research on this I decided on the Graco twin bassinet pack 'n play.  That said, we will be moving the babies to their cribs fairly early on - we are just not co-sleep type people and I know if they're in my room their little baby noises will keep me awake, lol.
  • We had 2 pack n plays.  One in the living room & one in our bedroom.  Both boys slept in the PNP in our bedroom at night until they were around a month & a half old.  We then transitioned them into their own cribs in the nursery.  We continued to use the PNP in the living room for their naps during the day.  It was most easy b/c of my c/s incision to have them close by.

  • We have the cosleeper but it is not attached to our bed. Makes little difference for us right now anyways since Evelyn sleeps in a swing and Jack sleeps in this new Fisher-Price hammock-like thing (both a bit of reflux).

We made our decision b/c of the weight limit on the pack 'n play.

  • Also, we do  now have two PnPs for traveling. But we've never had more than one set up at home.

  • We got the co-sleeper for the higher weight limit.  We will end up getting light PNPs for travel later on down the road, but until then, the co-sleeper makes sense for sleeping, and it does convert to a PNP as well, so they can play in the bottom part.  The 15 lb weight limit on the bassinet of the PNPs doesn't make much sense for twins...unless you aren't co-bedding and choose to use 2 of them.

  • I'm glad somebody posted this question.  I was struggling with the same thing, and then decided I would try using 2 moses baskets with the stands in our bedroom.

2 PNPs are too big for the space in my bedroom.  The babies will be in our room (current plan anyway) for maybe two months, so I think the Moses baskets with the stands might be the best "space saving" option.

    Anyone see issues with this?
