I saw in an earlier post that you had a permanent cerclage - is that the TAC? I had a loss at 22w with twins in July and am now pg again. Last time, after the TVC failed, my doctor mentioned the possibility of a TAC this time. I figured I would call him after I find out how many I'm having and have seen the hearbeats.
How was your experience with the TAC? Did you have it placed before or after you got pg? I don't even know what other questions I have for you at this point.. I just wanted to reach out and see if it would be ok to bug you with any questions.
Thanks!
Re: ** chocolatechip06 **
I am very sorry for your loss.
I had mine placed pre-pregnancy in August...got pregnant in October (we are on timeline for personal reasons, otherwise I might have waited a few more months to get pregnant) I need fertility treatments to get pg...sometimes they say having a TAC increases fertility issues...a moot point in my case.
I had mine placed laprascopically...that is what my doctor does at my local hospital.
Since you are in MI I would suggest contacting Dr. Arthur Haney at the unviersity of chicago...he is one of the gurus on the TAC. He places them traditionally-requires a few days in the hospital, and I think about a 2-3 week recovery process. You could maybe go back to work in a week or so I think.
It's similar to recovering from a c-section.
I took a week off work...I had surgery on the Thursday...could have gone back on Monday or Tuesday, but I'm glad I had the recovery time...I was sore.
The cerclage is permanent and no they should not remove the cerclage...it is supposed to be permanent and since it runs between the uterine arteries (should be covered in scar tissue) it would be somewhat dangerous to purposely remove it.
With this cerclage in place...you need to have a c-section...moot point in my case, since based on my previous delivery, I would always need a c-section (one of the reasons, having this cerclage placed was an easy choice.
Check out https://www.abbyloopers.org/ for more info on the cerclage and Dr. Haney etc.
There is a yahoo message group associated with them as well. I did find that a lot of women on the board looked down on women who got the TAC via lap or at a different doctor (vs Dr. Haney or Davis, but I did what was best for me...my surgeon was experienced and my team is good.
Email me at monizcel@gmal.com with anymore questions.
Good luck!
