Braxton Hicks / Contractions

When did you start feeling BH? I'm only 16 weeks but since my uterus is much larger than a 16w ute, I'm assuming feeling them now is normal. I felt one while shopping yesterday. But what isn't normal I'd at dinner at a friends house yesterday I felt about 8. We were there for a few hours and all I did was eat and sit at a table and put a puzzle together. Finally I knew something was wrong and decided to leave. I went home, drank a glass of water and then went to bed. I've felt 2 today. A friend of mine who is on bedrest with PTL is telling me I should have called and if it happens again to go in. I see my peri on Wednesday. Any words of advice?

Re: Braxton Hicks / Contractions

  • Mine started at 16 weeks.  I was told by my peri that this is very normal and not to worry unless there was pain associated with them or if I was having more than 6 an hour.

After 2 rounds of IVF & 2 rounds of FET, we were blessed with identical twin girls!

  • Mine started at 16 weeks. Call if you have more than 6 in an hour.

  • My OB said the same-- they are normal and expected in a twin pregnancy.  Up to 6 an hour is normal, which is hard to believe, but true!  I know that every time I feel them I panic, but I have to remind myself they are totally normal.

  • I've been having them for a while, I had 6 in an hour and was sent to the hospital for monitoring but everything was fine.  I get them throughout the day.  My OB now said just to call if I have 12 in an hour, which seems high to me so I'm going to ask my Peri on Tues.

  • I have been having them  since 21 weeks... Lately its all the time, much more than 6 an hour. I see my dr once a week and my cervix is not changing so he says not to worry.
  • Thanks everyone!
