High-Risk Pregnancy

high sugar in mornings

I know I am suppose to have below 90 in the mornings for "fasting" but they are between 112-120. Did anyone else have this....if so what did your doc say. I dont go back until Thursday.

The rest of the day is under 120.

Re: high sugar in mornings

  • I was never above 100, but after 2 weeks of a few 95-100 I was put on Glyburide.  Haven't had a problem with any number since (except for when I was sick with a fever).  I am on a low dose and just take it before bed.  Hope it stays this way...knocking on wood....

This. What are you having for your evening snack? I had to try different snacks to get my numbers where they need to be in the morning. I cannot eat anything w/ dairy or bread as those make my numbers jump. I've been sticking with crackers & peanut butter.

  • I am having the same as you. Since my partner also has the same problem, but she's diabetic.  We were told that it is called the "Dawn Phenomena" as it's the body's way of getting ready for the day.  It is often kind of confusing.

I will be talking with my doctor on Tuesday to find out more and so forth.

  • Just make sure you're having protein in your night time snack, that may do the trick.  Sometimes there's nothing you can do to regulate it without medication.
