how did your refund change after you had your first LO? DH and I dont noramlly get tons back, and I am wondering what to expect this year.

Our refund is bigger, between the baby herself and the dependent care (day care) credit.

We adjusted our withholdings so that it didnt affect our refund (or lack thereof) at all.

go to irs.gov and go to the parent resources.  They have good info.  The dependent deduction is about $1K and then you can also claim any childcare expenses (which may or may not up your refund and then you also may qualify for the earned income credit depending on your income.

I was about exactly even last year. This year I am getting close to 5 grand back! I wasn't even expecting that much and was very surprised I almost didn't believe it when I saw it.
