moby wrap?

Hey ladies, I'm pregnant with #2 and am already thinking about slings. ?I had a maya wrap for DD, and was not satisfied with it. I have heard good things about the moby wrap, but just wondered if anyone has personal experience with it? Would you recommend it? Or, if you have a different sling suggestion, I would love to hear it! Just trying to plan out how to deal with a toddler and a newborn!! ?TIA!

Re: moby wrap?

  • I love our Moby.  I can't compare it to the Maya wrap since I've never tried the Maya wrap.  The Moby requires a little bit of practice before you'll feel comfortable with it but it's not too complicated (at least IMHO).  There are a bunch of good instructional videos on youtube that I found very helpful.

The problem with the Moby is that most moms don't like it after the newborn stage.  It's very stretchy and many feel that it's not that safe when the baby starts to weigh more.  I have friends who used it through around 6 months.  If you want something that will last you through toddlerhood you probably want something more substantial.

  • I have a Maya ring sling and also the Moby wrap. I prefer the ring sling when I take LO to the store or for quick trips, and use the Moby around the house. I'm still getting used to the Moby though, we just got it this week. It is a little complicated to get LO into it, but it'll get easier w/practice. I have to stand in front of a mirror everytime to make sure I put him in the right spot!
