We went to a local kids' educational store today to see an in-store Elmo appearance and pick up a few b-day presents for DD, who will be 3 next week. When we got there, around noon, Elmo took about 15 minutes before he came out (he was supposed to be there from 11-5). That wasn't a big deal, since we wnted to look around anyway. But, when DD told me she had to use the bathroom and I asked where it was, one of the two cashiers immediately went in the back while the other one ignored me for a minute - I thought she didn't hear me ask until asked again and she turned around and said told me that the other cashier had to go first and then my daughter could use it. Okay....kind of strange....so we were still waiting 10 minutes later and DD was all but in tears trying to hold it. I knocked on the door and the cashier said she was still in there....another 5 minutes go by and by that time DD had already wet herself enough that I needed to change her undies and tights. The cashier finally came out and said we could go in. So, two things were running through my head the whole time - what the heck was she doing in the bathroom for that long, and she KNEW there was a little kid waiting - what kind of person makes someone wait that long, ESPECIALLY a little kid? I was really upset and DH didn't let me freak out on her. GRRRR...now I can't decide if I want to call the store and b**** or just let it go...
Re: VENT!!! Ignorant People....
Ditto this. Perhaps said employee shouldn't work kid related functions.

I would call the store and complain to the manager but I'll be honest and tell you that the first thing that ran through my mind was that the bathroom wasn't clean and that the cashier was going to clean it. I don't know what store bathroom is THAT dirty that it takes more than 15 minutes to clean though....
I would call and complain to the manager at the very least something should be said to the staff...whether it be about customers use the bathroom first and/or they need to regulate store bathroom cleaning.
this. absolutely.
The first thing I thought of was the cashier didn't want to go after your kid because of whatever mess the kids make. Then as it took longer maybe that she had to do #2 (lol). But I agree its mean to go and make the kid wait when they knew your kid had to go.
I have IBS too and I know that gotta go right then timing thing too but what are the odds that it was right after this mom asked where's the bathroom? very slim.
I always keep a change of clothes for each child in the car. Landon hasnt had an accident in over a year. I still keep him an extra outfit at all times in the car. You never know what wil happen.
I would call and complain as well. I had this happen at Walmart. An associate came in behind me, walked right past me and went into the handicap stall. No, it didnt have my name on it, Im not handicap etc but I was almost at the stall. I had a double stroller and a walking toddler with me. All 3 kids needed to go but Im not comfy with letting them go without me in with them. Plus there was only 2 stalls. Handicap and 1 other. They were both open. I needed to go to and couldnt fit all 3 kids in the stall with me. I also didnt want to leave my stroller and purse out alone. So, we waited for a few mins. (long enough for someone to go) and she wouldnt come out. I made a rude/blunt comment out loud and left. (I think she was waiting for me to leave so she could poop)
I found the closest manager and told them. He waited for her to come out and wrote her up. She simply could have used the single stall.
