Okay I posted about my high number this am and breakfast isn't as scary then lunch i got a 74 then at dinner I got a 163!!!!!! That is the highest it has ever been!
I ate half a banana w/peanut butter on one slice whole wheat toast
Cottage cheese with a few pineapple chunks
2 whole grain rice cakes with no sugar jelly
Is it the pineapple?????????
At what point do you call and need medicine to control everything????
Re: WTF??? GD# problems
What is you per meal limit? It honestly sounds like a really carb heavy meal with not a lot of protein. You want to try and have a lot more lean protein. With the online carb counter I use, I am getting the following:
Half banana - 12.5g
PB (2T) - 6g
Toast - 15g
Pineapple - 5g
Cottage Cheese (Individual serving pack) - 15g
Whole Grain Rice Cakes (2 ea) - 15g
Sugar Free Jelly (1T) - 5g
That adds up to almost 75g in one meal, which would be way way way too much for me personally (I am on 30g per meal). I don't know what your guidelines are though. My OB first had me cut my initial carb recommendations way down and now my after meal numbers are controlled by diet. I am on NPH at night for my fasting numbers, but those can be almost impossible to control through diet.
I currently have a plan with 65 carbs at dinner b/c mine wasn't very bad at the beginning. I will try to follow more stricter guidelines now. Thanks fr the tips. I think trying to go down to 30 or 45 carb allowances might help. I think fruit hasn't affected me at all and maybe it is starting to.
Which online counter are you using? I would like to check it out..
TIA!
I use Sparkpeople.com... love it!

Too many carbs and not enough fat and protein. I cannot do fruit in the morning at all and the pinneapple, banana and jelly would certainly have sent me over.
Breakfast for me is usually a cup of cottage cheese and one slice of high fiber bread with 1 tbpn. of no-sugar added jelly.
I use the carb counts on the packages of the food I am actually eating...they are more accurate, IMHO. I am on insulin, but not because of my post-meal numbers, but because my fasting numbers were always too high.
