If your child has had a cough come on in

So Skylar got a double infection and an eye infection on tue.  Now it seems like those are doing better but now she has a cough that sounds like a goose :+(

The Ped said to elevate her head when she sleeps, Turn on her hot humidifier & lots of liquids.

Do you have anything else that worked for you.  Im trying really hard to keep this out of her lungs

  • Sorry she feels bad.  Saline and the nose sucker works and steam up the bathroom and let her play in there a little while.

  • Can you request a nebulizer and albuterol?  That makes such a huge difference.

Im not sure but it doesnt hurt to ask.  Thank you :+)

  • Our standard practice is steaming the crap out of her in the bathroom and then offering her some honey/lemon w/ a little water.

When I called the Ped she asked if the cough sounded like a goose or a seal.  I thought more like a goose.  I wonder if it sounded more like a seal it could be croup?

Is she old enough for honey?

The rule is a year.  Since your DD is less than a year adjusted I would ask the pedi before giving it.

  • My nephew sounds like both when he has croup.  I know one thing they suggest is bundling up and hanging out outside for about 15 minutes.  It breaks things up and he always sounds better after that.  Gosh, it sounds bad.  I hope she is ok!

Thanks.  Hopefully it will all go away this weekend.  At least that is what im hoping for :+)

  • Oh no! Poor bug!

If it gets worse overnight, take her to the ER or urgent care. They have a breathing treatment that clears up the barking cough in a matter of seconds (seriously... less than a minute). Croup almost always gets worse at night :(

I hope she feels better soon, and there aren't any overnight trips anywhere tonight.
