Hello ladies. I mainly lurk here, but I have posted once or twice before.
I am 27w3d with twin girls. I have been on br since 23w1d because of a shortened cervix. For a few weeks my cervix was staying the same, between 1.9-2.2cm but at my last peri visit on Tuesday it was 1.4 the Dr was not THAT concerned because the babies are getting bigger so that is what is causing the cervix to shorten. I went to my OB today and he told us that he is thinking I will make it to 34 weeks at the MOST, if I make it past that he will be surprised and very happy. Hence the nerves. I would LOVE to make it to 36 weeks, but thats just a hope and a prayer right now.
My question is has anyone ever been told 34 weeks but made it longer?? Also, is there anything I can do to help with birthweight and development? I did get the 2 steroid shots at 24 weeks, there is talk of a 3rd one closer to suspected delivery. I hate the shot because it kills my sugar #'s for GD.
Im scared to even think about the health effects for my girls, but thats my next order of business.
Re: Worried. Concerned. and Anxious.
I delivered at 33 weeks due to HELLP. DD was fine, just small and had to remain in NICU to gain weight. NICU is scary, but they are wonderful and know exactly what these special babies need!
T and P your way!!! GL
Sending you tons of vibes!
FWIW, I am a twin and was born at 34 weeks after my mom was on bedrest for 6 weeks for PTL. This was 35 years ago. My brother and I came home a week after we were born and have been healthy and happy babies ever since. So keep the faith! Many twin babies are born early and do just fine. Yours will too.
