High-Risk Pregnancy

So..........

Yesterday I had my 1 hour glucose test.  I wasn't expecting it at this visit because I've been seeing my OB every week for the past 3 weeks due to blood pressure, pre-e risk.  So, I sorta wasn't feeling very good about it.  Mostly because I had a big glass of apple juice right before my appointment and had cereal for breakfast.  Well, today I woke up with horrible pain in the area where the bladder is.  I was convinced that I had a UTI or bladder infection.  After a urine analysis and a very painful pelvic exam, the PA said there was no indication of a bladder infection and I had some discharge but it didn't appear to be abnormal.  She said she would order cultures though.  So, basically she said by the exam it did appear my bladder was sensitive, but she really has no clue why I'm having the pain.  She also said there didn't appear to be proteins in my urine (good news!), BUT she said there were ketones and asked if I had diabetes.  I told her that no, I didn't have diabetes, but I had the 1 hour test yesterday and haven't gotten the results yet.  She just looked at me, nodded and smiled.  Then she said drink lots of fluids......

So, I'm thinking that having ketones isn't good news, but I'm still hoping I'm not going to joining the GD daily check-in along with the Bedrest Mamas check in Indifferent

  • My cousin had hyperketonuria at the end of the pregnancy (ketones in the urine) and the OB at her delivery said it can be from dehydration or from a carb-free diet. Whatever it is in your case, I hope you get your answers soon and that it's nothing serious!
