I'm officially switching. How many prefolds and how many covers should I buy?

LO #2 - TTC 7 months, surprise spontaneous BFP!
Have you tried CD before? If not, I would definitely recommend a trial. We bought a bunch of prefolds but LO HATED them with a passion so we went with our second choice, BG's.
You can do a trial of all the different types from jillians drawers.
But to answer your original question, we do laundry every 2 days and have about 20 diapers I think. We could probably use a few more just so we aren't on our last diaper when it's time to wash them again.

It depends on how often you want to do laundry... but I'd say 2 dozen prefolds is a good starting place and maybe 3-4 covers?
ITA this is what we currently have in rotation...
1 dozen prefolds and 3-4 covers... I wasnt sure if I was going to like doing CD like that so I kept it at a fairly decent stash
and 28 BG3.0s
with this I do laundry every 3-4 days
Im getting ready to try a box of flips too
That's a nice stash! I bought 1 Flip just to test it out and so far I really like it, FWIW
I was and still am kinda hesitant of Flip because of the reviews.. some either really like them or they seem to have stitching problems?
What cover are you using with your prefolds..
We use thirsties duos shes on the verge of outgrowing this size thats why Im venturing in to flip to see if I like it or if I will just do larger prefolds and thirsties duos again.. I really like the duos still but like to try other things

We use thirsties (I have some duos but I like the originals better). LO is pretty little and still wears the x-small.
We haven't had any stitching problems. And I bought 1 pack of the disposable inserts to test out. I wouldn't use them on a regular basis but it seems like a reasonable option for travel (if you can find them cheap enough to make it worth while)

I have tried/ experimented before,I have 3 BG 3.0s and love them.
