High-Risk Pregnancy

GRRRRR GD number:(

I have been super careful but I also have Crohn's disease. I am off my medication b/c pregnancy has made it in remission. Well the thing that makes my stomach better is carbs. Yesterday I had a small bout of my issue and so I ate some cereal and milk this am (very very small bowl) hoping to help ease the pain. My freaking number was 158!!!!!!!!!!!! I feel like the worst mom ever :(

Re: GRRRRR GD number:(

  • I might have you beat. I had a egg, cheese and turkey bacon sandwich on half of a whole wheat english muffin and my number was 151. I only had this because I wanted to sleep in, and so I had to get something that traveled well for breakfast this morning.

  • Ladies, try not to fret over random errant numbers!  I bet you both are doing great overall.  Keep in mind that consistently high numbers or trends toward going higher and higher as your pregnancies progress are what is noteworthy.

    a) if the cereal soothed your gut, it was probably worth it, and some of that 158 could be stress from our flare-up.

    b) the egg sandwich result could also reflect the stress of being on the run for the morning and feeling rushed-enough to have to make a portable breakfast.

We've all been there with the random high value, so we feel your pain, so to speak.

  • I agree - don't worry about one number, it's about patterns. If your breakfast number is always high, that's when there is a problem. Not one number here or there.

  • I have IBS, so I feel your pain about missing out on carbs. They tend to help with my IBS so this will be real challenge limiting them.
