Connecticut Babies

shower location ideas needed

Hi -

I'm from CT, but currently living out of state.  I have a few friends who want to host a shower for me somewhere in central CT, but have asked me for ideas of locations.  They don't own their own houses yet nor do any of us have a lot of $ to pay for a resturant.  However, we're a pretty creative bunch and could turn a simple room into a nice tea party type of baby shower.  Any ideas of where we could do this, maybe rent a room... also open to cheaper but nice resturant ideas.  We're looking in the general Farmington, Burlington, Bristol, West Hartford, Southington and surronding areas.  TIA!

Re: shower location ideas needed

  • How big of a place do you need? My shower is going to be in the back room of Vito's Pizza in Newington it'll hold 30 or so comfortably. I don't know the price but its all you can eat pizza, bread and pasta but non-alcoholic drinks. (not the healthiest but my ILs aren't the healthiest people lol) its food I sadly love to YUM!

Also the JVC in West Hartford I know rents out much bigger rooms but you have to bring your own food.

  • It wasn't a shower, but I did have the reception for my daughter's christening at El Sombrero's in Southington. Diffrent, but everyone loved it!

  • try a club in any town like the italian social club, polish club, etc.  they rent halls for ultra cheap and you can bring in all your own food/stuff at whatever cost you want.
  • Spartan II in Southington (Italian/Pizza) has a nice room (up to 60 people) not sure on prices but their food is really good, and there is a decent sized bar at the place with lots of sports if you wanted to provide the guys with something to do.  Also look into local senior centers, VFW's, fire houses and Park and Rec. facilities (you have to provide your own food, but the rental is usually under/around $100.00).  Not sure when you are planning your shower for but we threw an awesome jack and jill wedding shower for our friends at a local park and rec. pavillion.  Also, if you know anyone that lives in a condo you can look into if they have a clubhouse that you can rent out for the day.  Good luck!

  • Do any of your friends belong to a church? Most churches have rooms (some very big rooms) that you can use for free if you are a member or for a nominal price if you aren't.
