Infant Carriers

So we are registered for our carriers and stroller and now Im sitting here thinking about being told that I will be delivering the girls early, so now Im worried that the Carries are going to be not the right size for them since they will be preemies.  We registered for the Graco Snug Ride 32 carriers and the starting weight is 5lbs, thats what has me worried.

Has anyone that has had twins run into this issue and was told by the hospital that you needed to get different carriers? And if so what did you end up getting?

Re: Infant Carriers

  • No but I did find that those snug rides wouldn't fit behind the driver seat of our car (a full sized SUV) so that MH could drive comfortably...just a side note!

DS was under 5 lbs (4.14) when we came home & I'm not sure of the starting weight in our BabyTrend carseats but he passed the carseat test fine. I wouldn't get a new one unless you get to that point & really need it. Chances are you won't!

  • We have an expedition EL and the snug ride 32s dont fit behind the seat for my husband either. I also have problems with them attaching on to the quatro tour stroller properly. But, my daughter was itty bitty when she came home, under 5 lbs and passed car seat test on the 1st try. Our son had to take it a few times and what finally worked was taking out some of the removable padding. He was bigger but for some reason that padding threw his head forward and he failed it 3 times.

  • I think you'll be hard pressed to find a carseat that starts below 5lbs.  My understanding is that they can use it as long as they pass the car seat test.

  • My son was under 5 pounds and we used the snugride.  We had to put towels on each side...like this:

he also had to pass a "carseat test" at the hospital where they made him sit in his carseat for an hour or something under a light.
