Experienced four wheeler drivers can... thats what my doctor said, but she also said to prevent any type of jostling to the unborn baby to not do it. We were going to our friends this weekend and they have four wheelers so I asked Monday. So to be safe.. i would say no. To much bouncing around.
I wouldn't just because I'd be afraid of something happening and the baby getting hurt. I'm sure going slow, just to take it around wouldn't be a big deal. But I'd definitely avoid unlevel ground and speed.
I wouldn't do it, personally. I've been 4-wheeling before & it's pretty bumpy (ranks up there with several of the Disney rides that expectant mothers can't go on!).
If you really aren't sure, call your doctor to ask.
This is funny timing. I was just watching a re-run of 16 and pregnant (holler to all you teen mom fans) and Maci went riding when she was 38 weeks pregnant. She was on the back and couldn't go too long because it was uncomfortable. I was thinking "Man, can you really go 4 wheeling when you're pregnant?" I don't know the answer:)
As much as I love riding, I personally wouldn't. As pp's have said the jostling isn't good for the baby, and God forbid if you were thrown off.
I dont' ride rough, i'm a smooth rider... it's the other riders i guess that you have to worry about... but i mean what about a vehicle, riding in one, going over bumps, nto knowing if yoru going to get into an accident... i'm just saying lol
We are a 4-wheeling family, and I have to say, some of my biggest injuries in my life have been four wheeler related, and I am also a horse person! (Never had near as many booboos with horses!)
One incident, climbing a semi-steep incline, the engine of the 4wheeler cut off, and the tires cut too sharp. When I went to brake, the tires were already cutting too sharp and the whole 4 wheeler (Yamaha Grizzly - HUGE!) rolled backwards, flipped on us and tumbled on us a few times down the hill. It just happened to be the exact spot, the exact position, to make the whole thing flip over.
Two, our throttle had dust lodged in it from a previous ride apparently, and somehow had been shut off while IN GEAR. So, I go to turn the key, and realize the throttle was stuck in from the dirt. And we were in gear. So, 4wheeler lurches forward, slams me into a tree and climbs it.. I get the biggest bruise ever, that took 1 year to fully heal.
SO: weird things happen on four wheelers, throttles stick, engines die in bad spots, etc. so even if you're experienced, crap still happens! I wouldn't ride while pregnant.
We love 4-wheeling in the U.P. But have put our atv away for awhile because the trails we take are too rough. I don't want to chance anything. IMO...I wouldn't.

We are off-road/dirt bike people too. I think taking it out for a test ride on flat grounds is ok for a short amount of time. I'm assuming you're experienced. Use your best judgement tho, if it seems too bumpy, slow down and don't ride for very long. I have gone on a couple short & mellow rides in our Polaris Ranger and my BIL's buggy, but it's just been on flat grounds and when it got bumpy I'd tell DH to slow down to a crawl - and this was early in pg so the baby had more room to bounce if need be. I won't be going out in anything off road until after the baby is born tho, she's getting big in there and it just doesn't seem like a good idea.
I'm an avid rider also (Sportsman 500), and my OB said no way. Even if you're careful, you never know what can happen. I am super careful and almost paranoid when riding, and one day, going across a meadow, doing about 5 mph (seriously, had just turned around), and out of no where there was a 2-foot deep hole that I ended up in. Broke my pinky (10 weeks worth of having a pin in it!) and the handlebars ended up jabbed under my ribs. I had to have CT scans (I think that's what it was) to make sure there was no internal bleeding, so yeah, I wouldn't go riding if I were you. I miss it - winter riding is fun! - but there was no way I'd risk something stupid happening again. You'll be able to ride again soon enough!!! I know how hard it is though!
I have always gone 4-wheeling, snow mobiling, go carting, out on our jet boat, everything. I just make sure I am driving slower in an area I am used to riding. All three of my kids were born just fine. I grew up in the country so this is just what I am used to. I did not even think about not doing it. It is just so normal for us. I would say ask your doctor but I dont think it would hurt. I know you can still ride a horse if you did it before you were pregnant so I dont see why this would be any different.
I just bought a new articat mud pro pretty sweet quad, and I wasn't sure if you could go riding while pregnant!
and i jsut want to ride it!!! i'm anxious
I don't know what the ground/weather is like where you are, but I wouldn't now because its just too rough here (MN- snow and ice chunks) If its pretty flat and level its probably not that bad. So totally your call!

Re: Can you go 4wheeling when pregnant?
it's only dangerous if you make it dangerous! I don't do anything stupid on them.. i love them
Can you? Sure
Should you? NO
this!
I stopped cycling (road biking) and only use my trainer or a bike at the gym. It just seems to risky imo.
I could never forgive myself if I fell and hurt my baby.

Really?
The ONLY reason I read this post is that I thought it couldn't POSSIBLY really be about 4-wheeling while pregnant....

Yeah and some people ride their entire life without any problems at all. That's not what she was asking!
