Ketone testing- who else here has to do it?

And how are you doing with it?

I had to test my ketones as soon as I met with my nutritionist.  She had me test 4 times a day (fasting, before breakfast, before lunch, before supper, and before bedtime snack).  A couple of weeks later, we met again, and since my ketones were very good, she said I only had to test once a day now (upon waking up).

Most of my readings are between negative and small (15).  How is everyone else doing?

  • Hi! I have to do it too! I only have to do it in the morning. Since I started last week I usually get negative to trace amounts, not sure what the numbers are for that. When I slept in this weekend, I did get a moderate one, but I checked it at 9:30 am, and usually during the week I'm up at 6 am so it was a few hours later! It's kind of an annoyance on top of the glucose testing 4 times a day! good luck with yours! they said they want me to continue testing ketones in the morning for the whole pregnancy and that negative or trace amounts are okay.

  • I had to do it in the mornings for the first 6 weeks.  I wasn't losing any weight (which is one of their concerns) so they said I didn't need to do it anymore.
