My son is very high energy and we're having a heck of a time trying to keep him in a cart grocery shopping or in his highchair out to eat. We've tried bring snacks and different toys along and all he wants to do is get out and run around. I don't want to get to the point that we don't go anywhere, but he's getting more and more difficult and having a fit if we don't let him down. Any tips?
Re: How do you keep LO occupied in a store or restaurant?
Put him on a leash and tie the leash out front of the store or restaurant. He'll like hanging out with the puppies and that way you'll have a nice, quiet meal.
Kidding.
In restaurants DD can be distracted by crayons pretty easily. The grocery store is harder. I give her the option of being outside the cart if she holds my hand and when they have on of those carts with a car on front available she likes that.
We don't really do leisurely lunchs or extended grocery store visits, though.
St. Magnadoodle:) It works miracles.
In restaurants we use crayons. We also try to get in and get out as fast as possible. We usually order as soon as we sit down and the waitress will usually understand we are on limited time.
In the grocery store I let him ride in the car carts and give him a sample from the bakery. When all else fails I let him watch videos on my Iphone. I never let him out of the cart or the highchair, I know it will all go downhill from there.
