High-Risk Pregnancy

Allow myself to introduce ... myself - GD related

I'm joining you ladies. I'm in the 27th week right now and was just diagnosed with GD. I'm disappointed, but I've been reading your posts and I have a better understanding. I just hope I can deal with this new diet.

I see the nutritionist and diabeted educator tomorrow. I am concerned I won't handle the diet well. I'm a process-food addict and so is DH. I'm not sure how we'll transition.

I'm 37 and have thyroid problems, so I have that going for me as well. But, I'm over the inital shock and ready to do what I have to do. I'm due April 23, so I only have 3 months to go.

Question: Did anybody have to do the 24-hour urine in a jug test? How did you do that with work? I'm going to do it this weekend, but I do have to work Sunday. They say it has to be frozen.

  • Welcome - not the funniest place to have to hang out while pregnant but a lot of good thoughts from fellow ladies in your same position.

For the 24 hour test - I would double check about the freezing part.  I've done it twice and it needs to be kept cold, but never frozen.  I would try to do it on a day that you don't have to work since you need to keep all of your urine for a full 24 hours.
