Hi,
I'm curious as to how your OB determined your cervix was shortening and softening? I have been having tons of BH contractions since 16 weeks and my OB is't concerned, but I am. I haven't had an internal check or anything yet since I'm only 19.5 weeks but I have my "big" ultrasound next week and I'm wondering if they will be able to see any changes from that?
Thanks!

At 16 weeks I started getting ultrasounds to measure my cervix every 2 weeks. On the opposit weeks he was doing internals. At 20 weeks my cervix measured 4.5cm via ultrasound, less then a week later after he did my internal he told me I was 2cm and very soft. He pulled me out of work and I get internals every week now.
I was never dilated with my daughter, but he told me in some pPROM cases a cervix can thin, dilate, and then close after rupturing. That's probably more then likely what happened with me. We wouldn't have known that unless he was keeping such a close eye on me with this pregnancy.
Is he doing cervical length ultrasounds for you? If not, I'd ask, or ask for internals as miserable as they are. It can change soooo fast. Good luck at your next ultrasound!
