High-Risk Pregnancy

Back on stricter bedrest :(

I have been on modified bed rest for a while, but then two days ago I started getting period like cramps in front and back with some serious BH. I had an OB appt today and the cervix is closed (yay!) but she wants me feet up not 'puttering around' in her words. Do you think puttering included cooking etc? She said for 3 days unless the pain continues. Also anyone have pain like this with a closed cervix and then have it turn into PTL?

TIA!

Re: Back on stricter bedrest :(

  • I get really bad cramps around my belly and into my back along with contractions.  I have to lay down and drink water and it usually subsides...more so with the laying down then the drinking water, but I figure it's a good way to stay hydrated.  I go into see my doc in a couple of weeks for another check-up...I'm hoping it doesn't get worse or happen more often before then.  I just really watch that I'm not on my feet and this makes a difference.  So I'd say, other than making a sandwich, NO COOKING!  That can involve bending and lifting pans, walking back and forth to the fridge and being on your feet for more than 10min.  Take the 3days and be very careful then see what your doc says.  Good Luck!

  • Yuck, I'm sorry!  I think when the doctor says no puttering around, that includes cooking.  Or at least, more cooking than making a sandwich or toasting a bagel.

At least she said 3 days and not the rest of the pregnancy!  I am supposed to be on the couch, no cooking, til at least 32 weeks.

I hope you feel better and can get back on your feet soon.

  • Thanks guys! That sucks about bedrest until 32 btw.

I got put on strict at 13 weeks and taken off to be on modified at around 24 which was AWESOME! I hope it's just 3 days I really want to meet the baby but in more like feb or march not jan lol!

  • I think if it were serious, she would have used more serious terms than puttering around. That being said, you should definitely be taking it as easy as you can. If you can afford to stay in bed all day, then do it! Take it from someone who didn't take it easy and ended up on hospital bedrest!
