Did anyone get genetic testing done?

I'm older and had CVS with Emerson at 11 wks.  I am wanting to do it again to make sure everything is okay.  I found out my dr that did it with Emerson doesn't attempt it with twins so, I'm going to have to find another dr perhpaps, even in a different state than what I live.

Has anyone done genetic testing with twins?  I'm finding it so much more challenging with the twin situation.

    I had an amnio on both twins at about 16 weeks.  Make sure you find someone who is an expert and has done many, a Peri or MFM is best, ask around.  Feel free to PM me about it too.

    The dr that did it with Emerson is a Peri and has at least 25 yrs experience with the CVS but, still won't do the twins.  He will do amnio at 16 wks with this pregnancy though.  I just don't understand.  I've been crying all day.  I'm the kind of person that needs to be in the "know".

    My Peri only wanted to do the amnio not the CVS, he said CVS was too risky for twins and not as informative.  It is tough, but wait for the amnio, you do not want to put your little ones at risk and the amnio tells you so much more.  I am so sorry you are sad, it is tough, genetic testing, twins, it is all overwhelming.  I did not even want an amnio but ended up needing one so that was a rollercoaster of emotions.  You can always vent here, take care.

    I wanted to do a CVS also but at the appt. the twins were in a bad position and the CVS would put them in danger so we opted to just do the amnio. According to my doctor, it is very risky to have a CVS with twins but I wanted one anyway. I am also one who needs to be in the know, but having an amnio at 16 weeks really isnt that bad. It still gives you loads of reassurance early enough for the rest of your pregnancy.

    I also had an amnio done around 15/16 weeks.

    They had to do it on both twins even though they are identical.

    Like pp said make sure you get a doctor that knows what they are doing.

    My peri was associated with the hospital I delivered at - their numbers for loss were 1 in 400.  But with twins it was 1 in 200.  Which we found out the day of.  Apprantley they have different numbers for twins.

    We still went through with it though.

    They also have a quick test with amnio called a FSH (FISH) test that gets results back with in 72 hours.

    We just had an amnio done last week and got the FISH results back less than 24 hours later. Thankfully everything is okay. I wouldn't recommend the amnio unless you have some other information that you need to further investigate.

     I had to get it done on each twin even though they were identical, not exactly comfortable, but it was worth every second to get the reassurance that everything is okay.

    Good luck, this is stressful, and just know there are people out here that have gotten it done with good results.
