Two Under 2

what age for a sit n stand stroller?

My DS will only be 19 months when DS #2 comes along.  I'm wondering if I could skate by with carrying DS #2 in a sling for a while and then jump right into a sit n stand stroller.  What age is appropriate for a toddler to stand?

Re: what age for a sit n stand stroller?

  • You could get by with the sling or you could get the sit n stand double elite or double plus that has a removable seat in the back so the toddler can either sit or you can take it off for them to stand. That one, IMO, is the most versatile and spans the widest age range.

  • This is tricky...I really think it has to do with the individual child rather than the age.  My daughter will be 19 months next month when the new little one joins in on the party and I thought about a sit and stand.  I thought she was too young but then we went to a store and she LOVED it...so, I had a friend that was kind enough to let us borrow hers to try it out, with the intention of buying if it worked.  It worked GREAT for a couple of outings and now the novelty has worn off and my daughter won't stay on it for long, either sitting or standing.  Boo!  I'm giving it back and waiting until we see what are needs really are once the new little one arrives and we settle into "normal"....does that make sense?

  • Mine are 17 months apart.

By the time I wasn't comfortable wearing the baby the toddler was good for the sit and stand.

We used our true double maybe 5 times before it collected dust and finally got sold on craigslist.

My vote is sit and stand and just get the one with the removable 2nd seat if you're not sure about it.

Our IF journey: 1 m/c, 1 IVF with only 3 eggs retrieved yielding Dylan and a lost twin, 1 shocker unmedicated BFP resulting in Jace, 3 more unmedicated pregnancies ending in more losses.
Total score: 6 pregnancies, 5 losses, 2 amazing blessings that I'm thankful for every single day.
  • We have the sit n stand double elite from one step ahead.  My girls are 19 months apart  DD#1 liked it because she could look at her sister and still relax at the same time.  I never tried the stand portion with her yet because I am not ready to let her know about it if you know what I mean.  We have only used the double stroller 1x so far because most places we go as a family we use shopping cart instead.
