High-Risk Pregnancy

Rh-sensitization?

Wondering if anyone is in this boat with me? I have Rh-negative blood and must have had some unexpected exposure to my DD's Rh-positive blood during my previous pregnancy. Had the RhoGAM shot, but somehow I have developed antibodies against Rh-positive blood -- which puts the baby in this pregnancy at risk.

So far, my levels are low and baby is growing fine. I'll be working extra hard to have a healthy pregnancy and hopefully my levels will stay low and out of the way of baby.

If anyone has been through this with either good or challenging outcomes, I'd love to hear your story! I've had two super boring (in a good way!), textbook type of pregnancies, so being scrutinized and having extra things to worry about has thrown me for a loop.

Re: Rh-sensitization?

  • i am also rh negative (AB- to be exact). I am currently about 6 weeks and have had two previous miscarriages. I don't have any insight for you but i am in the same boat! It does make me very nervous... especially since i have had two previous failures; both were 4-6 weeks. I have my first U/S on friday this week and i hope to find out that i am officially passed that scary window. I wish you the best of luck and if I learn anything important i will let you know!

I have had two very healthy pregnancies prior to this with NO issues as a result of my blood type (so don't stress too much!). The difference this time is that I have developed antibodies that could cause trouble. Hoping your pregnancy will be healthy and full-term!
