Pennsylvania Babies

futuremrssoll and pepomntpat re: Lancaster OB's

Jess - didn't you deliver your kiddos with Eichenlaub and May? I need to switch from OB/GYN so I can deliver at Women and Babies again in the future and I'm debating between Lancaster Physicians for Women, May/Grant and Eichenlaub and May.  Thanks for any info you can share about your experiences!

Jennifer - I tagged you since this might help you as well. I'm so sorry to hear about your loss and your bad experience with a care provider on top of it.

  • Just in case Jess didn't see this, I know she definitely did deliver with Eichenlaub and May. A couple of other people did, too, though I'm not sure they're around still? I just remember because I  got so many recs for them that I was going to go to their office, but by the time we were here they weren't accepting any more patients due in April. I think I might have an email from Jess somewhere with more info on why she liked them they I could forward to you? I don't think she'd mind at all. Let me know if you want me to, just in case!

I'd love to hear about the practice you're going to as well, if you have anything to share - I can't remember where you decided on...

I haven't figured out where I'm going to go moving forward. I went to Birth Care, but I was transferred to Ephrata ObGyn for complications(that went away, but they still did the delivery). I was not a fan of the doctor who did my delivery, or really any of the doctors I saw at the end of my pregnancy, but I LOVE their midwives. LOOOOOOOOOOOVE them. So I love the widwives at both Birth Care(every single one!), but I don't really feel like dealing with the hoops I had to jump through because of the vbac again, so I might just stick with the midwives at Ephrata the next time around(if the is a next time around) and in the interim. But none of that helps you much since they're all at Ephrata;)

*But* I give great, wonderful, FANTASTIC A++++ reviews to Ephrata Community Hospital in case anyone else is reading this and considering delivering there. They were amazing, especially the nurses, down to letting me stay overnight in an open post-partum room when I was admitted to the ER with an infection 5 days after Nick was born so that he could stay with me.

  • Hey!  I see the post!  Thanks and LClaire is correct, I did deliver there and I do/did go to Eichenlaub may and cheri gard.  I'll send you an email about my experiences there tomorrow.  Its 11 here so its 2am there.  It is an amazing practice and I still call if i have questions!  i can tell you that Cheri is awesome and I dont want to have babies again until I move back to PA, haha.  Talk to you in the email!
  • Thanks for tagging me!  I have an appointment with Lancaster Physicians for Women tomorrow just to have a consultation. If that doesn't go well I will check out the other place as well. I do not recommend May Grant. I think the problem is that it is just too impersonal. For my yearly exams it was fine, but for something as personal as a pregnancy and subsequent loss, they just don't care at all.  I'm just another statistic and just another insurance company to bill.  I told them that too when I requested my medical records.
