Type - Strict hospital bedrest
Why - IUGR
Question of the Day - Tell me about your nursery--are you doing a theme? what color scheme are you using? Any pics yet?
Answer- We are doing classic pooh for our theme--I wanted to keep the nursery as gender neutral as possible so that we wouldnt have to change much for baby #2 (if we ever get there lol) But the walls are sage green with a soft light cream for the trim, I have classic pooh vinyl wall appliques and I used our crib bumper to make window valences that matched the crib bedding. The furniture is all a natural wood color to match our wood floors--unfortunately we havent set the nursery up yet, I bought everything for it but figured I still have 3 months left to put it together--well obviously that didnt happen so now DH is going to have to call on his inner interior designer and put it together for little buddy
Updates- I had my NICU tour yesterday--DH wasnt able to come b/c hes come down with the stomach virus thats going around--which also means I dont have any visitors today since hes staying home sick...I am PRAYING he gets better before my big ultrasound on tues. b/c I know that I am not strong enough to hear the results without him...hopefully its just a 24 hour bug! The NICU tour went well--I was worried I would have a break down but I felt pretty prepared when I went in and it wasnt as scary as I thought it would be so that was good :-)
**Chelsea--are you feeling any better? I had a bad day on Friday too--have you found anything to lift your spirits?
**Michelle--is your DH feeling any better? still have the sinus infection?
**Becca-That is so awesome about the doula! My sister is training to become a certified doula and is going to be my doula (free of charge obviously lol) to help her get the number of live births she needs for certification
**Jennifer-- yay for normal proteins! How is the swelling going? Gotten any better?
**Nic- how has your wknd been so far? I know you were weaning off the terbutaline--has that gone okay?

Question of the Day - Tell me about your nursery--are you doing a theme? what color scheme are you using? Any pics yet?
Answer- We are doing a monkey theme. The colors are greens, tans, and chocolate brown. We have my husband's crib from when he was a baby, so we are going to get new hardware for it and paint it. We ordered the most comfy glider from BuyBuyBaby. Once it comes in, I might just sit in it all day with my feet propped up instead of laying on the couch or in the bed. LOL! Of course nothing is actually set up at this point. We started to clear out the baby's room the weekend before I was put on bed rest. So, we haven't gotten much further. However, DH went to get the paint for the crib yesterday and he bought the shelves/cubbies we're going to use for storage. He also rented a storage unit so we can put extra furniture and "stuff" in it to finish clearing out the room. I really want to be in there getting it ready
Updates- The swelling in my hands and arms comes and goes. It still hasn't gotten overly excessive. So, I haven't called my OB about it. Especially since my bp seems to be much better as long as I take it lying down. I learned my lesson last week and I'm trying to stay as immobile as possible so I don't end up on hospital bed rest. I think I used my last get out of jail free card when I had to stay overnight last Monday. Yesterday I had a bit of a Debbie Downer day. I seem to be fine at home by myself during the week when I know people are at work and DH is either at his office or out of town for court (he's an attorney who has to appear in court all over Texas). But yesterday he had some errands to run and had to go visit his grandpa in the hospital (more on that in a second), so I felt pretty lonely even though I knew DH HAD to go out and do these things.
DH's grandfather had a heart attack Thursday night. He survived it, but he has a blockage. Since he's 90 and has other health problems, the doctor recommended not doing surgery. So, he's still in the hospital and seems to be doing well, but he may have another heart attack at any time. It sucks that I can't go visit
T&P for him would be much appreciated.
**Lauren - I'm glad you had a good NICU tour. The unknown is so scary! I hope your DH gets better before your u/s. But, if he's not I know you can be strong. T&P to you!
**I hope everyone is having a better day today than on Friday. Have a great Sunday. I'm going to watch the Cowboys lose to the Vikings now
2nd Update: DH's grandfather had another heart attack today. The nurses sat him up in a chair because they wanted to start having him sit up. After about 45 minutes he started feeling nauseous and having chest pains. They laid him back down in the bed and gave him nitroglycerin. He seems to be ok now.
My mom also called and said she thinks she will have to put one of her cats down tomorrow. Kitty hasn't eaten in 7 days except what the vet has forced her to eat. He said she isn't metabolizing the food though. She also isn't drinking and has had no elimination. They also found she has diabetes, which could be treated, but she also has something going on with her liver functioning. So, with everything combined, my mom is expecting to have to put her down tomorrow unless something miraculous happens before then.....
So, it's looking like today might turn into a Debbie Downer day again.....
Jennifer-T&P to your DH's grandfather...that is a tough and scary situation but rest assured that he is getting the best care possible in the hospital and at least there are dr's and nurses to monitor him 24/7 to try and treat him if he does have any more heart attacks
That really stinks about your moms cat too--doesnt it seem like bad stuff all happens at the same time? ugh--I'm sorry youve gotten such crappy news
And I can totally relate to having a hard time on the wknds, its like it doesnt bother me as much to be on bed rest when DH is at work but on the wknds when he COULD be here I desperately want his company but at the same time I know the wknds are the only time for him to run errands/get anything done around the house b/c during the week he works all day and spends his evenings here visiting...I wish that everything would go on standstill outside of me being on bedrest so DH didnt have to worry about mundane things like taking our christmas lights down (which I dont want him to do cuz I want him here but at the same I know I will want him here even more once the baby is born--maybe our christmas lights will just stay up till next year

Date Placed on Bedrest -1/12 (31 weeks) at home
Type - Strict Bed rest at home
Why - Low lying placenta and a bleed in a blood vessel attached to the placenta
Question of the Day - Tell me about your nursery--are you doing a theme? what color scheme are you using? Any pics yet?
Answer - Jungle theme - the bedding has primary colors in it. So the room is going to be blue with red accents.
Update: I'm new to the whole bedrest thing and it is already driving me insane. I am not one to rely on everyone for everything so that has been hard, but what's been harder on me is how my DD is reacting to this. She doesn't understand why Mommy can't do anything and is not handling this very well. This weekend has been chock full of meltdowns......
Does anyone else on bedrest have other children? How did you handle this? Also what do you all do to keep busy? Any ideas on how to get used to this whole thing would be greatly appreicated...thanks!

Question of the Day - Tell me about your nursery--are you doing a theme? what color scheme are you using? Any pics yet?
Answer- I picked two different bedding sets from the same company-- the KidsLine Mod Elephant and Mod Turtle. We have not purchased either set yet, and now I'm having 2nd thoughts. I was just going to do a neutral wall, maybe cream, so that it would match both of them, but now I am wondering if I want a different bedding altogether and to paint the wall a coordinating color. The more I hear about vinyl decals and what have you, the more I want one, or some kind of wall art. In the end, I know it is not a big deal, I don't think my parents painted my nursery when I was a kid, and I know I have not suffered as a result. We have also done about zero to get a nursery ready. We had a gigantic bookcase in there that we moved out, but all the contents are on the floor in there now and don't seem to be going anywhere.
Updates - Nothing really. Yesterday I had a bunch of BH contractions, but barely any today. Sometimes my tummy feels kind of sore, and I wonder if the boys are having a growth spurt. I definitely don't have anything that meets the description on my pre-term labor sheet, but I might call my OB in the morning if I don't feel 100%.I also had a bad day yesterday, no one came to visit, and no one called. My mom, who was visiting me everyday, is in Paris. I agree that it's easier to be on bedrest during the week, I just get so sad on the weekends when everyone else is out on the town doing things I like, like shopping, socializing, eating out, and I am home alone. My husband has been working like crazy and so even though he works from home, I barely see him! I'm definitely a little lonely and looking forward to the end of bedrest.

Question of the Day - Tell me about your nursery--are you doing a theme? what color scheme are you using? Any pics yet?
Answer- DH is putting together the dresser right now! ! ! ! Yay! He has been putting it together for 2 hours and has help and he and his help sound really confused. Anywho, there are two "fairy white" walls and two tan walls. She has pink/orange/tan/yellow bedding with animals on it. I have put up the pink curtains, letters, cross, and last night I found some vinyl quotes on ebay that I'm going to order today. Maybe I can take pictures tomorrow and post...if I can figure it out.

Question of the Day - Tell me about your nursery--are you doing a theme? what color scheme are you using? Any pics yet?
Answer- Well, since DH has been home sick these last few days, he's been able to get hopping! We have the walls, trim and ceiling painted and the crib together. He is currently putting the dresser together. Yes, he is also confused and I think it's going to take all night! Before he started the dresser today he did a deep clean on the room so we can just arrange the furniture and wait for my showers to do the rest. We are using the Love Bird bedding by BananaFish. It is pink, green, turquiose and brown. I love it and can't wait. I'll post some pics when we get the furniture set up!
Updates- DH is feeling much better. I'm really sore and tired today. I ran an errand yesterday while I wasn't feeling well...big mistake. Had tons of contractions yesterday and am feeling exhausted today. So my feet are up and I'm not doing anything today!
***Lauren- I really hope your DH is feeling better, it sucks when you have to go through this stuff alone.
***Jennifer- My heart goes out to you. Bad seems to come in spades, doesn't it? I hope kitty and Grandpa are doing better.
***Karen, Since I've been on this board for FOREVER now, I've heard this problem a lot. I don't have kids, but like I said...it seems to be a common problem. People have recommended finding ways for your DD to help you. Can she bring you a book that you can read together or bring you a bottle of water? If she feels included and like she's helping that may content her a bit.
Do you have any family or friends you can call on to help? Scheduleing her a play-date or special day with Grandma, ect as often as you can. Think of how nuts we all go stuck inside...it's worse for them because they really don't understand why.
Keep in mind, this will eventually be over. It might not feel like it, but one day this will all be a distant memory. Good Luck!!
Thanks for the advice......during the week she is in preschool...so that helps. The main problem at home is i am the one who usually puts her to bed/down for naps, etc. She really doesn't want Daddy doing it...so that is the bulk of the problem. Luckily both my mom and sister live down the street so they have been helping out.....my sister came and toook her to the mall this afternoon to ride the carousel and shop a little so that made her happy.
I know in the end this is all worth it to have a helathy baby, but man this is hard. Kudos to all of you that have had to deal with this a lot longer than I have!!!!
Lauren - I vote for the Christmas lights to stay up until next year....or at least for Christmas in July. Hahaha! You guys have enough going on to worry about, so I'd say f!@# the Christmas lights.
Thanks everyone for the T&P and the support. It really does seem like everything happens all at once. I feel really bad for my MIL because she's staying at the hospital all night meanwhile trying to coordinate care for her mother, who has dementia and isn't allowed to stay at home by herself. So, when Grandma isn't at the hospital with Grandpa, someone has to be with her. As if Grandma's dementia and confusion isn't enough, MIL is having to constantly play "20 Questions" with Grandpa about "where am I," "why am I here," "where am I sleeping tonight", etc. Plus, MIL is still trying to put together meals for us! I told DH she needs to stop worrying about us! Ugggghhhhh! It's such a mess!!

Question of the Day - Tell me about your nursery--are you doing a theme? what color scheme are you using? Any pics yet?
Answer- We went with a totally gender neutral nursery, the theme is ABC's and animals. The decor set we went with was the Kidslines My First ABC set, that has since been discontinued at BRU. We bought it back in August, since once I was out of 1st tri, DH went on a crazy set up spree. Plus, we figure no matter the gender of this baby or the next one, we can keep things pretty much the same minus changing out a few picture frames.
Updates- Weaning myself off of the terbutaline this weekend. I've been taking it every 6 hours, instead of every 4 hours. I feel like a normal person again, minus my HUGE belly! I have had a few crampy feelings, but I know that if something progresses at this point, it's not as big of a deal as when I was 28w.
I'm anxious for my appointment on Wednesday to see if I have progressed anymore. I can tell he's dropped into my pelvis more, because I feel like I could seriously sit on the toilet all day and pee. TMI, but true!
**Lauren - I have been thinking of you and your LO. I know you are in an awesome hospital, and they are the best in the area.***
