For those of you who BF

Can I eat like a sumo wrestler the entire time I'm bf-ing or do you get to a point where you no longer burn so many calories creating the BM?

I mean, I am trying to lose weight, but I notice if I cut things down too much I get dizzy and I can feel my blood sugar dip, so I still feel like I'm eating way more than I normally would, let alone when I am dieting. I'm still losing weight without really doing too much, I'm just wondering if eventually I'm going to hit a wall with it.

Re: For those of you who BF

  • For me...I ate like a pig the entire time with my last son and never gained any weight.  I am not so piggish in my eating this time, but I am certainly not passing up on stuff I normally would and I am still dropping weight.  To date (7 months) I have lost 50 lbs...and I love that I have not had to exercise but a handful of times.
  • I was the same way until DS hit 8-9 months and started eating way more solids and less breastmilk.  Now I have to be more careful.  The upside is that I'm no longer hungry all.the.time!

  • Until you cut back on the bf'ing, you'll need those calories.
  • you need an extra 400 cals a day to bf safely (for your own body). though, i swear- i think i eat an extra 1000! i'm ALWAYS hungry! :)
  • I ate like crap the first few months after DD was born and actually gained 10lbs from it. Bleh. I'm working on losing the rest of the baby weight now (8lbs left!)
