who has made the PW cinnamon rolls?

I'm hiding from my ILs.  They've been here 1.5 hours...

Anyway, I'm making the orange marmalade version of the PW rolls for Cara's baptism brunch on Sunday.  I'm debating whether to make them tomorrow or whether to get up really early and do them Sunday morning.  I'll make the dough in advance either way, so how long do they take to roll and cut?  And are they so good fresh that I need to make them Sunday morning or will they be just as good on day 2?

Re: who has made the PW cinnamon rolls?

  • Several girls on my local have made them, and I think they did them in advance and said they were just as good.  I haven't made them but they got rave reviews there.  :)

  • They are WAY better fresh! Make the dough early but keep an eye on it - it had a mind of it own! If it gets out of control just punch it down.

Oh, orange marmalade sounds yummy! How are you pulling that off?

  • I haven't made that particular recipe, but I make another recipe that I'm sure is similar.  You can do everything the night before (make the dough, roll it out, cut them and put them in a pan) and then just cover them and  put them in the fridge overnight.  The next morning you can just put them in a cold oven and then turn the oven on and let them bake.

That sounds sooo good right now!

  • JB--It's a PW recipe.  I'm not that creative!

    Mrs Tony--Thanks

Yodajo--I was worried they would rise too much in the pans overnight.  You think they should be fine?

  • I just looked at the PW recipe and compared it to the one I use and they seem very similar in terms of technique and amount of yeast.  Mine don't rise a lot in the fridge at all.  I think you'll be fine.  It makes it so much easier to do it that way and honestly, there's nothing like fresh baked cinnamon rolls.  They're good the next day, but heavenly the day of!

This is the recipe I use, but I have modified it a tiny bit and do it by hand, instead of in a bread machine.  I can send you my version if you want!

  • I made them at Christmas and just put them in the fridge and baked the next day. They were fine that way and didn't rise too much.
