That requires a drug test...what do you do?

If you test positive for pot does it matter? Are they looking for other drugs?

Since alot of professionals seem to be doing it..how are they passing drug tests?

Neither my DH nor I smoke pot, but we're both professionals and have never once been subjected to a drug test.  I'd guess that there are plenty of jobs that don't test.

You don't smoke for the few days before the drug test.  If they can't figure that out, then they're probably not smart enough to get the job sober anyways.

Well if you don't pass the drug test you probably don't get hired. So they probably don't smoke within the timeframe that involves the testing. Or if they do, they don't get the job or they get fired. And a lot of companies say they will test, but they don't.

I knew people who swore by drinking Goldenseal or flushing their systems with a ton of water. Not sure how far that got them though.

My brother had to have a drug test before working at Michelin and the local putt putt golf place.

Yes, it matters.  Pot is considered a drug.  It depends on your state's laws regarding medical marijuana and whether or not you have a prescription for it.  A lot of people buy kits that help you pass a drug test.  I know for a fact that they work because someone I know, who smokes pot regularly, recently passed a drug test.  The kit was called "The Whizinator".  I thought that was the funniest thing ever!

I'm pretty sure they quit a couple weeks before knowing they have a drug test then take up smoking again.

DH's old job used to do random drug tests, he was in construction, so they would literally watch you pee standing behind your truck or something.  They test it right then and if it's positive they send it in for more testing to make sure. 

A guy DH worked with went as far as drinking a gallon of water with a cap full of bleach in it!  Crazy idiot!

go to a smoke shop.  they have a whole wall of potions and devices to help you pass a drug test.

well considering the fact that marijuana stays in your system for up to 40 days, not smoking a few days before won't do anything for you

I've heard of people bringing in a small container of someone else's pee and handing it over as if it were their own.  I don't want to know how they get someone else's pee or how they transport it though. 

Then again, I know a whole bunch of attorneys that smoke pot and very, very few attorney positions that require a drug test.

Where I work they drug test you.  Bad credit, parking tickets, and several other things aren't acceptable either.  I was drug tested to get the job, but don't do anything that would make it come back.

They are looking for any type of illegal substance (so your depression meds, anxiety meds, alcohol, etc...would be acceptable).

I'm sure there's special pills you can take or drink you can drink to get it out of your system. I wouldn't know though honestly.

I don't know of any professionals (doctors, lawyers, accountants, consultants, people in finance) who have had to take drug tests for jobs...may depend where you work though, I assume many government jobs would test for it. I've never taken a drug test in my life.

I know several very successful people who have very good jobs.  They are smart enough to stop smoking pot when they are looking for jobs.  Most professional companies don't do random drug test.  They are far from the "Dazed and Confused" stereotype. 

In Canada it is illegal to drug test most employees.

i think most of you would be very surprised to know that many, many people smoke pot on a regular basis.  they're not all dirty hippies.

I don't know anything about pot, I want to say that first.  However, someone I know claims (I say that because I don't know if it's true or not) she went through a job interview and drug test and failed because she had to give a hair sample?  Something about that is more accurate (I think she said 3 years) than a urine specimen?

I asked our SA counselor and she said that if you are a habitual user, daily for months, it will be in your system for weeks. Pot is the one drug that stays in your system because it adheres to fat cells. If they are a recreational user it would most likely be gone in time for the test. If it were to come back + then a GCMS would be ordered to check the levels.

Most drug tests look for opiates, cocaine, pot amph, meth and you can order special tests for alcohol and ecstacy.

Side note: drinking a lot of liquid before your test will give you a diluted which most take as a dirty.

I know way too much about this.

ex-bf actually peed for his at the time best friend since the kid needed a job desperately. But when his friend showed up at our door baked out of his mind, i stayed in the bedroom, so i have no clue what or how they did it. i was totally against it. and

I know lots of companies that don't even bother testing for pot, they only test for cocaine, crack, amphetamines and the like.

I guess it's not a hard enough drug for employers to worry about, if they drug test at all.

I worked in Management in Corporate Finance for 12 years in a variety of jobs.  I had a drug test for every one of them.  Most major employers require a drug test prior to hiring, it just isn't that hard not to smoke pot for a month or two when looking for a good job.   All the consultants I know, except one who works for a Canadian company require drug test.  You cannot be a consultant with some companies, like Coca-Cola with out having had a drug test prior to employment. 

Drug test don't really help much, except to weed out the very worst, like meth users or severe cocaine addicts.  

As for the using of others pee, I just don't see this as much of a solution, since you could not "sneek" pee into the drug test I have taken, even if you did, they have measures in place, like taking the temp of the urine as soon as you finish, that would prevent you from really making it work.  You would have to get it to >95 degrees while in the bathroom.

My friend is a smoker (heavy), and had to take a drug test.  He drank the cleanse (it was orange-flavored and gross looking) and it totally worked.  He passed, and I didn't think he had a chance in hell.
