Quick update:
I had my appointment with the dietician yesterday afternoon- and I got my meal plans, etc.... we went over the risks to me and the baby (which always stink to hear)- but they said that if I can keep my blood sugar levels in check with diet alone, that I won't need any medication to control it- which is great (and my goal, obviously!!)
They gave me my glucometer and I went grocery shopping for foods that I CAN eat... which there are more than I thought there would be- it's more about portion control and having a healthy balance. I swear, I would never be able to eat like this under normal circumstances, but it's much easier knowing that it's for the good of the baby!! I'll tell you what though- I'm adding PIZZA and SODA to the long list of things that I want to eat as soon as baby Slater makes his appearance!!!!!
This morning we had the "growth scan"- which they will do every 4 weeks (so 2 more times) until he's born, to measure his size and my fluid levels, etc (if anything were awry- they would discuss induction at that point).
So far- Baby is a healthy 3.5 pounds!!! They said that's within the "normal" range for his age, a bit on the higher end of normal- but still within the limits... which is GREAT, since babies of mothers with GD tend to be much larger at a younger gestational age!!
Heartrate was 141....and because of this diet, they actually said that i may stay the same weight or even lose weight by the end of the pregnancy- although I may still gain some weight, it would be minimal. Basically, any weight that I have now will be redistributed to the baby for him to grow!! Which is good!!
Attached are the 3D pics that they took!! They aren't the BEST of pictures, since the little guy was pressed up against my uterine wall- but if you look closely, you can see his eyes (don't mind the shadow on the right side of his right eye- that was just a shadow!), cute little nose (looks a bit smooshed, but I think that is because he was pressed up against me (or maybe he has my flat nose! LOL), and his mouth!!! Also, he has his right hand pressed up to his chin.... he's such a serious thinker!!
I'm currently 29w6d... and he's measuring 30w4d- but all my other measurements (fluid, stomach, etc) are right on track... so they said give or take a few days in competely normal.
Enjoy!
