Strangers wanting to pinch cheeks??

Has anyone else had this happen before. It happens to Jocelyn all.the.time. But today threw me for a loop, we stopped at Starbucks and this very well dressed 40ish woman looked at her and said she had "the most beautiful cheeks she has ever seen" and said she wanted to pinch them, and then just looked at me. I just said thank you. People ALWAYS ask to squeeze/pinch her cheeks. I say yes some of the time and some times I just smile and squeeze them myself for the person. It is really weird though! Not sure how to handle that.

Well....she does have adorable cheeks.  Like, I can understand why people want to pinch them, they are THAT cute.  LOL!  But...I'm not good with strangers touching my kid (you've heard the statistics about how many people DO NOT wash their hands after going to the bathroom, right?)  At least they ask, but I'd do what you do and squeeze them yourself, and say thanks!

At least they asked...I had some little kid walk over to mine last night in the grocery store and start playing with her hands. Thank God her mom saw what she was doing and politely told her that she was supposed to ask before she touched anyone. It completely took me by surprise, normally people just touch her feet and that's about it.

LOL!  That has never happened to us, but Jocelyn does have some adorable cheeks!   I wouldn't want a stranger pinching Liam's cheeks either - weird!

That is weird.  I hate when people touch him and it is always the really old people or overly friendly people that you don't want to be mean to.  I have had an elderly lady do it and a man that was maybe in his late 40s.  I mean when they just lean over and do it, what can you do??  It is over before you can even react. 

If they ask, I think you are doing great by doing it for them and saying thanks.  You are showing them you get their compliment (which I would consider it a compliment) and letting them see how cute it is but not do it themselves

That is obnoxious! I have people comment about how cute his cheeks are all the time, but have never experienced a pincher. I'm not sure how I would react. People usually just tickle his toes, which I'm okay with.

At the Farmer's Market this fall some little kid came over with visibly dirty hands and touched Riley's face- I was about to fall over, but held myself together and politely told her not to touch her face, since she is so little... then walked away and scrubbed Riley's face with a wipe just to make sure none of the germs would get to her! LOL- a little neurotic, but we're at 5 months and she has yet to get sick (now I jinxed myself, I know...)

I think you should just say "Well, that's an odd fettish" and maybe they'll realize they sound like freaks.

Thanks for all the cheek complements, they are very delicious if I do say so myself.

I still find it very odd. It just happened again at Target the old lady cashier was like..ohhh...look at those big cheeks! Thankfully she didn't ask to squeeze them.  I guess I'll just pick and chose who gets to squeeze, it isn't really the germ factor, as I just find it odd that people would asked to squeeze a strange babies cheek. And for those of you who know us and have done it, that is perfectly OK!! Friends and family get a free squeezing pass!
