The name Blake, or Blakely for a girl

So our boys name is Blake. But we also like it for a girl the first time around.

I however loved the name Ashlyn and we both sort of agreed that Blake although a super cute name needs a girl that fits it.

I love Ashlyns name and think it fits her perfectly but I think she could of definately pulled off Blake too.

I like the way Blakely makes it sound more girly, but then again I dont really care for the way it looks spelled out and I think its too "cutesy" for a grown woman.

We were leaning towards Allison "Allie" for a girl, but I just dont know I am sorta really liking Blake for a boy or a girl.

What do you think?

  • I think Blake or Blakely is adorable for a girl!  And, I don't feel like Blakely is too cutesy...maybe if you spelled it "Blakelie" or "Blakeli" or something equally atrocious Wink.  Even if you called Allison "Allie", I feel like that's too close to Ashlyn.

Do you like double names?  You could go with Anna Blake, Elizabeth Blake, Sara Blake, etc...and if she doesn't end up seeming like much of a Blake, you could just call her by the first name?

    I agree with this :)

  • I feel like I either know a Blakely in real life or it's a character I know. But I get good vibes from this feeling so it has my vote!
  • I personally don't care for the name Blakely, but I think Blake as a middle name is cute.

  • I'm not a fan of Blake or Blakely for a girl, but I don't think it's awful or anything.

I also think that Alison or Allie is awfully close to Ashlyn. Sorry, I'm just a-rainin' on your parade. Lol

  • I TAKE BACK WHAT I SAY! DON'T USE IT! I REMEMBERED WHY IT SOUNDED FAMILIAR!

    DO NOT USE THIS NAME!

well, Blake is ok. But not Blakely.

  • I actually don't mind Blake for a girl. However, Blakely makes it sound like you're trying *way* too hard.

I've always loved the name Allison!

    I like privacy. A lot.
  • Blakely is Trista (the Bachelorette) Sutter's daughter's name.  I had never heard the name before and was like WTF?  But it is kind of cute, maybe too cutesy as you say.  Blake Lively from Gossip Girl carries it off well, so it definitely can work.  Boys names for girls is really nms b/c I always envision of lifetime of people expecting you to be a boy (first day of class, etc.).   I agree that Allie is probably too close to Ashlyn.  So btw the two, I guess Blake is the better choice.

  • I have seen it spelled Blakeleigh and thought that was pretty although SUPER long for a little one to learn how to write!!
  • I know a Blakely. I think she was named after a soap opera character or something. Anyway, I think it's cute

  • I like Blake but not Blakely, or however you would spell it.  It sounds made up.
