I'll be 38w4d. At yesterday's appt. LO measured 7 lbs 8 oz., up from 6 lbs. 3 oz. last week. I still am not quite sure how that's possible!
My numbers have been good, especially since upping my dose of insulin in the morning and evening (from 6 units each time to 8). Weight and BP has been stable. OB just says that she doesn't like to let her insulin-dependent GDers to go past 39 weeks.
I am nervious since I have been hoping/planning for a Bradley Birth....I still hope to avoid pain meds, but this cervidil + pitocin may be a game changer. At the end of the day, I just want my baby girl here safe and sound! Wish us luck!
Re: GD: Induction Scheduled for 01.20.10
Good Luck!
In a few weeks time, I'm expecting the same thing to happen to me (because my doctor has been telling me the same thing) -- and I too want to try to a med-free birth, but I worry being induced will change all that -fast!!
How exciting to have a date!
I was induced as well and my advice to you is to keep an open mind. I had also hoped to avoid meds but that is not always possible during an induction (and of course is sometimes possible!). I had made almost no progress before they started the cervidil which doesn't help.... hopefully you will have made some progress before it starts.
My birth plan morphed into 1. Get the baby out safely and 2. Keep me safe.
My Friday a.m. induction turned into a early Sunday a.m. section. It wasn't what I had hoped for but the end result was what I wanted -- a healthy baby. (I still have to post his birth story -- the days just fly).
GL - it will all work out : )
Best wishes! I hope all goes well and you get the birth you planned for. I can tell you after two now and doing one with meds and the other without that in the end the outcome is just as fabulous when you look at your little girl for the first time!
Keep us up to date!
