DS is fascinated with stairs lately. We don't have any stairs at our house (other than to our unfinished basement, which we don't use at all), so the only stairs he really has access to are my parents steps. We were over there for dinner and he was climbing the stairs. DH was right behind him, but when he got to the second step, he stood up, turned fast and lost his balance. He turned so quickly, DH missed grabbing him and he fell. Thankfully he only cried for a few seconds and seems absolutely fine, and it was more of a roll than a fall. We'll now be buying a baby gate for my parents house.

Re: DS rolled off the second stair
It's amazing how fast it happens. Back in October I was just about to get in front of DD at the top of the stairs but she was so quick and got in front of me. She slipped off the top step and fell down the entire flight (15 stairs) landing on the hardwood in the foyer. It was the scariest moment of my life and I flew down the stairs as fast as I could to get to her. Thankfully she just had a big old bruise on her head. We took her into the ER and they did a catscan just in case. We went out the next day and got a gate. I still don't like her going up and down the stairs and I'll probably end up carrying her up and down the stairs until she moves out.
Glad to hear your little one is ok.
