High-Risk Pregnancy

XP: Anyone have Multiple Sclerosis?

From everything I have read, MS is supposed to get better with pregnancy.  I don't know if I'm crazy, but my symptoms stayed the same for the first 20-21 weeks and have been getting worse the last few weeks.

The internet isn't much help.  If I can find anything about MS and pregnancy, it basically says the same thing my doctor does, that pregnancy is the best thing for MS.  I am finding the opposite.

I am getting desperate because my OB dismisses my symptoms as "normal pregnancy related."  I am seeing my neurologist tomorrow.

Guess I am just wondering if anyone else had problems or if maybe this really is in my head?

Re: XP: Anyone have Multiple Sclerosis?

  • My mom has had MS since she was a teen.  She has been through 5 pregnancies, the last one being twins.  Each pregnancy was different but none ever really made her MS worse.  Pregnancy does do funny things to even a healthy person.  Maybe what you are feeling is normal pregnancy stuff and you're just over sensitive to the changes because of the MS.  I hope that doesn't sound rude, I just mean that you notice the changes and worry about them more because they could be signs of the MS progressing.
