my first Disney post...

I want to take DS to Disney (we can get in free since my cousin works there), but we'll have a new baby this year... So, this year is out.

Option A: Next year he'll be 4 and the baby will be 1ish. Should we all 4 go or leave the baby with my parents for the wknd.

Option B: plan it for the following year when DS is 5 and the baby is almost 2?

Option C: another idea?

Re: my first Disney post...

  • we are taking a 3 yr old and 16mth old
  • A girl at work just came back.  She brought her 4 year old and 18mo old and said it went fine.  The little one slept a lot, I guess.  She said it probably would have been better if the little one was closer to 2 but that it was fine.

  • Is this going to be your one and only trip?  Do you think you'll go back again someday?  We go regularly b/c we have family in the area, so I wouldn't have qualms about taking an infant or 1 y/o there.  We took DD when she was 8 mos old and she had fun.  She didn't remember anythign, but still had fun.  If you want your kids to remember, I'd wait until they're older.

  • We have friends that live right in Orlando and can get us into the parks for free too.

We have waited too because of the new baby. I think we will wait until ds is 5.5 and #2 is 2. Then maybe go again a few years later.

very likely to be the one and only trip. DH's dad lives there, but we have almost no contact with him....

I'd probably wait until they'll both remember it, then.  At least until #2 is 3 or 4 y/o.

is there an age that is "too old" for Disney?

  • DD has been at 15 months and 2 yo.

We plan on going back next year when she is ~4 yo and the baby is 1.

DD had a blast at 15 months.

  • We're going in 3 weeks, before the new baby comes.

If we go again before the new baby is 3, I'd leave him/her at home with grandparents, I think.

  • I would either go right now or next year and leave the baby home.

  • Go now and when the kids are 5 and 2.

We just went with our 4.75y.o. and 20 months old and they both had a blast!

Teenager.  ;-)  I went as a teen and made my grandparents (who took me there) miserable.  I think even an 8, 9, 10 y/o would think the MK is cool.  They have rides for them too.  But, I have to say the highlight of my last trip was seeing my 2.5 y/o get all excited when Mickey and MInnie passed us on their parade floats.  Made my day!  (As did DS reaching out to grab things in Philharmagic (4D show)).
