Hey all...I am pregnant with my first and I am going to BRU to register for my shower today. ?I'm a little overwhelmed because I don't know what to put on a registry without seeming greedy. ?All the lists that I look at are enormous! ?I don't want a bunch of stuff I won't use.... any advice as to what things were essential and useful with your newborns? ?And what is registry etiquette??
Re: help with registry
a boppy was a huge helper to me
a diaper stacker is a huge waste and I hardly ever used a changing table
bottle warmer and wipe warmer IMO are a waste also
Don't put a ton of bottles on there if you're going that route-- babies can be really particular about which ones they like, and BRU return policy SUCKS SUCKS SUCKS.
You can put some big items on there, even if you think you won't get them, because you might be surprised. People love to buy big for first babies, and some will go together to get you something useful like a travel system.
I think it's obnoxious to register for stuff like breastfeeding supplies or formula. Diapers, eh. Some people will buy them, and you might as well.
And ditto on the diaper stacker and wipes warmer being a waste of money.

This is what I would register for:
Boppy (with a couple of covers)
Onesies in a variety of sizes (up to 24 months)
Burp rags - we seem to go through those like crazy
A bouncer chair. I like this one: https://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2265002. It made it through two kids, with no issues. My favorite though is this one because you can use it from baby - toddler. Again, we've had no issues and it's on kid #2. https://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3247576
I find this useful when the kiddos are a little older and you don't have to pack gobs of stuff. https://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2609035
