Anyone have confirmed ovulation yet all negative OPKs?

My RE has me predominantly monitoring my clomid cycle through OPKs, though I insisted on cd21 b/w to double check. I'm nervous about OPKs not being very accurate many times. Has anyone never had a positive OPK but still confirmed ovulation?

Re: Anyone have confirmed ovulation yet all negative OPKs?

  • YES - this happened to me this month actually! I tested with OPK's CD 12-19 with all negative readings. Went in with what I thought was 7dpo for a progesterone check & according to my levels the nurse said I had indeed ovulated!? Talk about frustrating! This next cycle they are going to monitor to me more closely & trigger ovulation instead of using OPK tests & waiting for it!

  • That is why you need to be monitored with both u/s and b/w, and that "cd21" b/w needs to be done at 7dpo, no matter what cd that is.

  • I asked my RE about 7 days post-O vs cd21, and she still wants me to come in cd21. I guess if I don't get a positive OPK by then, I'd want the b/w anyway. I really wanted to be monitored by u/s, but I'm military and only have so much say in my covered treatment at this point. It's my first clomid, so I'm guessing I can push for more monitoring next cycle if nothing happens. Believe me, it's frustrating only relying on these dang OPKs!
