High-Risk Pregnancy

Hello ladies,

I have Type 1 diabetes and just recently got my bfp.. i have two other daughters but this is my first with diabetes.. my question is this.. is it normal for your sugar levels to be higher? Everything I have read says that your insulin levels should go lower. not higher? I am on an Omnipod and had to recently change my basal rate from 1 to 1.35 an hour.. any experiences with this would be helpful. Thanks so much!

Re: Hello ladies,

  • Hi, I am also a type 1 diabetic.  When I was pregnant with my DS, I had to decrease my insulin requirements in the beginning.  With this pregnancy, I had to increase my basal and insulin:carb ratio's in the very beginning.  Then they went back down, and are now starting to go back up again.  My endo has me faxing in all of my blood sugars at least once a week so that they can make adjustments to all of my settings.  Your insulin requirements will be changing a LOT during the course of your pregnancy.  Let me know if you have any other questions!
