tubes

Just got back from the ENT and Audrey is getting tubes on february 2.  Her ears are STILL infected after a week, andtibiotics and drops...  tho the rupture is healed.   Then the ENT said he wants to see Gabe tomorrow so if he needs tubes, we do them both the same day... wheeeeee......  the fun news is that we'll hit the 3K deductible on our crap health insurance in the next 3 weeks....  gee I love regence.

So, if your munchkie had pe tubes put in, how was the recovery?   We are taking the day off obviously, but should we plan on keeping them home the rest of the week or for a day or 2 after?  Just want to plan schedules accordingly....  The Dr said they bounce back pretty darn quick.   it should be loads of fun to bring them in at 630am without milk or b-fast...  x2.   woo hoo...  better make sure my xanax rx is filled.

Re: tubes

  • Tubes were a cinch!  We literally left his appointment, drove the 5 minutes back to the daycare and he took off running outside with the other kids.  Didn't phase him the rest of the day!

The whole surgery took maybe 10-15 minutes and they had me in the back room holding him while he woke up.  That was the only crummy part.  They're pretty pissed when they wake up!

We haven't had one ear infection since!!!  It was soooo worth it!!  You'll be glad to have them done!

  • Ah poor twinkies! I would plan for maybe 2 days just to be safe. My friends' daughter bounced back pretty fast but for about 2 days she felt a bit icky. Hope everything goes well!

This.  :(  Hopefully it will cure them and they won't be in pain any more!

  • Logan had tubes put in at 10 months. It was quite possibly the best thing DH and I did for him as parents. They said he was hearing like her was under 3 feet of water all the time. His ears were so infected when he went in for the procedure. It was bad.

Recovery was easier than I thought. I only remember mainly fighting him to get the drops in but he was super happy after the procedure. Like he was relieved.
