I'm totally clueless when it comes to wine...If I buy it, it's the cheap bottle of sparkling prosecco (which I love hah). So if anyone has any suggestions, I would love to hear them! My birthday is tomorrow, and DH and I are going out on Friday so I thought I would buy a bottle of something new. I like super sweet, not dry. And sparkling is delish. Thanks!

beringer sparkling rose
Lambrusco is my all time favorite, I love it because it is supposed to be served chilled.i can't drink anything warm.
This is the one that I buy.

red- Chianti Reserva ducali
white- Ca'Montini Pinot Grigio
a Sangiovese is usually a sweeter wine. Yellow Tail Shiraz is pretty good as well.
champagne- Ballatore- its like $5 a bottle and a sweeter taste.
I love the Chateau St. Michelle Riesling...and if you want sweet non-sparling get a Moscato - but they are hard to find in restaurants...both of these are white and very affordable (classy way of saying cheap...lol...)
if you get finger lakes wines near you (i noticed your location says NY)- Knapp winery makes a wine called "Pasta Red" that is a light sweeter red wine. Also- Casa Larga makes a wine called "Tapestry" - same type. And Swedish Hill makes "Svenska Red" that is light red- it tastes like you opened up a jar of smuckers grape jelly. (i throw a couple ice cubes in it bc it helps dilute the sweetness- sometimes its too sweet for me)
Bully Hill also makes a light red- i forgot the name but it's pretty good.
hth!
ETA: sorry i thought you were looking specifically for light sweet red wines. if you like whites also- Hosmer makes a really good dry riesling (the 2007 or 2003 versions are the best). casa larga makes Lilac Hill- which is sweeter and delish. goose watch makes a really good viognier, and also their strawberry speldor is awesome mixed with a sparkling white. (by itself the strawberry is overwhelming, IMO)
if you like sweet red, lambrusco is good and bonus - it's cheap!
sweet whites are reisling and gewurztraminer - very tasty.
oh and you could also get a dessert wine like a muscat
Second the Ballatore Champagne.
