Hi everyone,
I started spotting then bleeding on Monday and went to an u/s on Tuesday when I was told I have a SCH. I'm not sure how big it is, I see the dr on Friday. I'm about 9w3d and the baby looked great as did the hb (163). For those of you who have had these, what kinds of questions should I ask the dr on Friday? This has me totally freaked!!!
Thanks!!!
Re: subchorionic hematoma questions
This. Also ask if your OB wants you on pelvic rst and/or restricted activity and for how long. T&Ps headed your way
The effect on the baby can be a function of size and location, so those may be things you want to know. The doctor can also give you some limited information on your specific prognosis based on these things, although it really is wait and see, unfortunately. As the others said, doctor's recommendations as far as pelvic or bed rest and any other restrictions. When they want you to come back and how they will monitor it (extra US's, increased visits are possibilities).
I just went through this about a week and a half ago. In my case the doctor put me on strict bed rest for 24 hours until the bleeding stopped, then 2 days of bed rest where I was allowed to get up to use the bathroom, then a week of modified bed rest (could get up occasionally, but no driving/lifting). Since I haven't had a bleed since, I'm now mostly back to normal activity, but almost no lifting anything (10 lb or so limit), no travel, and pelvic rest. I'm also having increased visits for now, coming in every couple of weeks.
GL, it is a very nerve racking experience to have something like this, but in general from what I've read the odds are still in your and LO's favor.
