tan colored poop?

DS has had an ear infection for 5wks now, he goes back in tomorrow and we'll be discussing tubes. Since then his poop has been a light tan almost white color and is pastey like peanut butter.

I thought it was from the antibiotics but I'm not sure now since he finished up the last round on Friday and it hasn't changed.

Does anyone have ideas what it could be?? I'll ask the Dr tomorrow morning too.

Re: tan colored poop?

  • DS's poop had been every color. It was tan for a few days, then it changed back to dark. It has to have something to do with his diet.

He had really light stools once (really, really light) and I called the pedi because I was worried he was having liver failure or something (I googled). I called the pedi and they told me to watch and if it was still like that five days later, to come in. It ended up going away after a day or two.

  • Hmmm, DS has the same thing for a few days last week. But he had no changes in diet, no meds, etc so I didn't know what it was from. His is never like that though so I was a little strange. Hope you figure it out!
  • I have heard that it could be a sign of a bile duct issue. Try and bring a diaper in with you tomorrow.

We have had constant tan poop, like khaki colored since DD switched to cow milk. Pedi wasn't concerned with us, but, we didn't have the white pasty issue.

I hope he is just fine!!!

  • C's was very dark and then changed to a tan color once we switched to cow's milk.  It's been a ton of different colors, usually dependent on what he's eating.
